I'm Mai Moonshine
WRITER + ARTIST + CREATIVE BUSINESS STRATEGIST
I’ve been building bridges between creativity and business for over 15 years now.

But for now, I will share this: I switched gears from the world of visual arts to the publishing industry in 2018 as a freelance writer. Within a year, I was working full-time as a professional romance fiction ghostwriter. After a few years of supporting my family through my romance writing, I moved into project management and business development for ghostwriting agencies and self-publishing clients. I became a romance market expert and trained hundreds of writers, editors, and designers on how to create what romance readers are craving. By building the agency's first B2B department from the ground up, I was able to work with some of the biggest players in the romance publishing space.
I have since moved on to start my own consulting firm that serves six and seven-figure romance publishers. Through content and project management as well as my genre and market expertise, I help them to build scalable, thriving businesses.
I am now returning to my talent and passion as an educator to teach more female creatives and entrepreneurs how they can start their own businesses in romance publishing.
My background is unique because my strategies aren't just based on what's worked for me and one pen name, but on what I've seen work for hundreds of self-publishers in all different sub-genres, writing styles, tropes, and steam levels.
During my work with ghostwriting agencies, I was given an interesting puzzle to solve. We had to be able to guarantee that the books we delivered to our clients could be profitable. Not only was I able to develop a formula for doing just that, I learned how to replicate it over and over again - teaching it to hundreds of writers of all different experience levels.
I’m here to share that formula and honed expertise with you to help build a thriving romance publishing empire where you get to have fun, and make money, all on your own terms.
